I got a new genuine Toyota electric aerial for the Surf. I have had enough messing around with cheap ones that either don't fit properly, don't work or both! The dash has been hanging out for a month and I'm fed up with it.
£168 though!
Not sure about the "made in China" lable though. Hopefully it's the usual Toyota quality and not silverline.....

It looks like it could do with a clean - Turn a tube to fit against the back of the toothed ring, wind the jaws to about half way and press down on the jaws with it resting in the tube, the ring comes off from the front and then it's all obvious from there. Perfect job for an Arbour press.

Chuck a bit of oil down the end and stick it on the lathe lol.
I do need to strip my other Jacobs and the r8 Chuck on the mill though.
A nice folding bench that will probably get shortened and used for camping expeditions, an offcut of aluminium side rail that will be mounted underneath the truck’s roof deflector for fitting my tv aerial to, as well as some new LED work lights, and a pair of new floor mats for my little Nissan van. Plus lots of brownie points from work for “rescuing” one of our stepframe trailers that had been abandoned due to a major air leak and was on the verge of being recovered at great expense. Boilersuit on and 20 minutes underneath it with the magic toolbox that very few truck drivers seem to carry these days, plenty of ice cold drinks, lots of swearing , and good to go

Yeah Fizzy, might be interested. I only have a small size Clarkson collet chuck with one tool. I tried to remove it but it seems quite solid.
Yes the Clarksons are the hardest to remove! Only a tiny gap.
Not my idea but suggested by other people on here and other forums.
Get hold of a pair of Jacobs JT3 taper wedges - the inside edges need grinding or filing to open up a bit - I used a powerfile.
Then I used a big Record Vice to squeeze hard

Going forward buy an Er32 collet chuck set
They stick as well - as do all Morse Tapers - so buy these - I am always having to give a little tap to release. These will NOT work with the Clarkson though - not a big enough gap.

I'd be wary of knocking it from one side like that, it's probably no worse than a drift through the slot in a morse taper spindle but the opposed wedges from the post before guarantee there's no excessive side loading that could potentially bend a spindle.
You are correct - that is why for the very stuck Clarkson you need to squeeze from both sides but with my newer attachments the gap is too big. It only needs a light tap now.
