In a previous life, here’s one I loaded from a windfarm on the Ullapool road that went to Seimens at Hull. And if you think wind turbine blades that travel by road are long, the 80-odd metre ones that go offshore from Hull are something else .

I once dragged a 20' shipping container up a garden that had a very steep slope. We used railway sleepers greased up and my trusty tirfor winch attached to a very large oak tree.
It moved it easily but I think snails travel faster. My brother reckons you can nick things with a Tirfor and nobody will notice them going missing!

If you need a HIAB contact GC Distribution in Barking. They are a fantastic depot but no idea what they would charge for a HIAB - the people I use in Port Talbot are a bit out of the way

Unless you can sneak in and do this out of hours I would imagine there will need to be a lifting plan, RAMS, insurances and all the other bull associated with working at a school. its also in the lez so that will eliminate any older trucks just nipping in and doing this on the side.

Iv done some of my finest work "out of hours" .... The same as when iv sarcastically filed in a method statement with "lifting with chains and suitable equipment" when someone's irritated me!

When we used to have the 3T telehandlers you were always on the limits with chains especially on a windy day, The new 5T trucks though are boss of the 20' One iv got on 500 tyres and one on 420 semi industrials its amazing that the same machines with the same capacity feel completely different on bigger boots. 40's I prefer to do a tandem lift...….. Sort of thing the right person would do in half an hour but as you say with a school the "right person" is unlikely to want the agro.

Not a thing , just an empty going back to Hull after I’d delivered a 50 ton earthmover to Glasgow.

Mind you, even with an empty box on board weighing 4 ton, the rig still grossed 40 ton .

HSS charge £50-ish a day for standard “shifting” skates, which come with 2 rear skates and a front steerer. It would take literally minutes to get them under a 10’ box with a decent crowbar, some wooden wedges, and some 3” timbers. If, as has been said, the floor is good, ie tarmac, it wouldn’t take long to tow it to its new home with anything that has a tow bar, tying some 3” timbers underneath as “followers” just in case.

I’m in and out of Batt Cables at Erith on a regular basis and would happily do it if I weren’t in Edinburgh atm, the problem being that as it’s a school, if you use a Hiab you’ll need a lift plan, RAMS, plus all the other modern nonsense that goes with that, and it will cost you a few hundred pounds.

Was just hunting down the skate option. Thought I'd read through the post first

the daughter services the offshore turbines they have lifts inside them but daughter climbs them everyday to keep fit 2 weeks on 2 off

I’ve been to the factory in Hull. The blades are Mahoooooosive. You can drive a transit van a good bit up the blade

You need an all terrain forklift really. Manitou/JCB/Merlo telehandler.
