Thanks Bob but they look to be as expensive as the proper oneChain drive an Austin seven dynamo, that had the distributor on the end. That will give you leccy for charging , a spark and would look a bit period.
Bob
Its difficult to generate the 12v with out the dynamo so it will be a battery operated system untill he can afford the proper one.Set of points, cap, coil, battery.
Make a cam for the crank with the points on a movable fixing to adj timing, used to run the old Villiers on external coil & battery.
tried before with mags for his stuart turner engine but they either dont work or cost a fortunehttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lister-J...575913?hash=item364d53dde9:g:kUwAAOSwD8pc2HC9
try and find a mag from the lister D or similar?
No room to mount itAdapt the Honda setup to fit on the existing crank taper and crankcase. You could also use a Lumenition system with the chopper plate mounted on the crank and power the coil from a battery.

I was just thinking of that. I have brand new HEI module in my shed I was looking at yesterday while trying to find something else. A simple HES, and a coil, and there you go.
Ignition advance, hmm, maybe mechanical?
then we need some magic box to take that pulse and switch the coil, just like the pit bike things

Just modify pit bike stuff, pit bike stuff, just uses a trigger assembly,
cheap and relatively simple, you just need to work out how to trigger it, pit bikes have a sensor, and a magnet passes close to it at the right time, so you need a disc that triggers the sensor mounted to the crank,
Thanks Tom thats very kind of youWhat size are the wheels I have some 20” off a BSA If I remember right one mostly complete and a rim I could go to the Brit shop here in Calgary to see if they have the ignition.
Thats a pity as the fly wheel fits we tried one the same, stuff is never near by, I drove 400 miles yesterday to collect the bike, just need wheels, Mudguards, Ignition system and loads of timeI just saw this at the boot fair for 30 quid and thought of your project.
