Have you got it delivered yet ? I have bought one too, but it will be a while before i get it. The way i look at it is, if you get three or four years out of it and it pops, its no big deal, chuck it in the bin and get another one.

I’m no expert on the rules and regulations, I was just asking. In your case wouldn’t it be just for private use as most tractors would breakdown in a field, not needing recovery as such. Are tractors tax exempt if used within a certain distance of home.

Today i made progress.
cant find pics of how it looked before the big clearout in jan but heres how it looked last week.
Spent half my time juggling stuff around so i could build bits.
Started with the bench for the lathe, added noggins in the studs for shelving in dead space.
Gave me room to clear a space by the door for this.
The cleared the big shelfoff and removed the gallows brackets i made in a rush years back and sorted out some shelving either side of the bandsaws home.
not the neatest job but made from scraps in a hurry.
Tomorrow il finish the shelving and build a two tier bench along the clear wall. this will have a drop down section for my big mitre saw.

Mine was getting like that, too. A dab of IPA on a microfibre cloth sorted the lens out. Surprising how very little muck has such an effect.

Aye it's on the list. Another day on it tomorrow then Monday il be porting a lot of stuff back from the lock up.after that get a sander and easy edge the plywood bench too
Need it clearer for deliveries next month.
next big job. Get the bandsaw cleaned up and cutting.

Having 5x2 timbers made it easy.
If it looks like it's needed il add uprights for support but I was hanging on one of the supports to test no should be good.
Don't have the money to spend some I'm digging into surplus materials from the last few years.
Hopefully I've got enough ply tucked away to finish the shelves in the lock up and have two 580x2440mm strips of exterior ply for the bench in the van already from last weeks job. Il end up adding mor shelves above the bench at a later date.
Whole shed was made from reclaimed timber from a flat roof and pitched roof I replaced 3 years back.
All the 5x2 and 18mm ply (very good quality and covered in bitumen paint ) came from a flat roof and all the battens came from a pitched roof. All I had to buy was feather edge and felt, cost me 300 notes.
Been up 3 years and been bone dry ever since,
Could do a much better job but not for 300 quid and two days labour.

This interesting plane was recued from a skip and given to me. It is a odd design. It doesn't have a normal blade, but one like a spoke shave.
You can see the odd blade and cap iron. But stripping it down showed a crack, running from the mouth and up the side cheek.
Talking to a friend on Friday he said bring it to his work on Saturday.
The crack was opened to a "V" shape, clamped and "TIG" back together. Then ground back on a surface grinder. £20.
The plane was assembled, painted and wood parts waxed. The blade was sharpened, by hand.
The fine black marks is the dry from the surface grinder. You can see them, but can't feel them. The paint was "T" cut and polished. The Bare metal was waxed with hard bee's wax.

A fun day today.
Old skills used to keep an old item going.
A railway lantern, the flame was using fuel dripped on the wick. The tank was rust welded to the body. Even gentle force was making the tank and lantern flex alarmingly.
Warming the body of the lantern with a gentle gas flame allowed me to get vinegar to flow along the lip. Iced water poured into the tank cooled the tank down, but showed I had stressed fractured at least one joint.
On the RHS, you can see the water seeping from the tank and pooling in the wire joint seam.
A bit of scotch-brite showed the rust on the body was not to bad. But it showed that most of the tin solder joints were cracked, have had previous repairs and some kind of modern sealant pushed into the seams.
Only 3 cracks were found, but I decided to redo all the joints.
Citric acid powder, flour and hot water applied. The white string was used to drag the mix through the wire edge joint. The tank was kept warm on a paraffin stove.
When the metal work was clean and washed with cold boiled water it was time to solder the joints.
No pictures as it is hard to take any as you solder.
A Dremal was used to deep clean the joints and open the cracks up. Yorkshire flux was used to "Glue" solder wire into place. This meant as the gas flame was applied it melted and allowed the solder to flow.
The wick chimney disappeared when de-rusted. So a bit of fire extinguisher was liberated, cut flared and soldered into place. This is after the repair and a clear coat was applied.
This iron was used to heat the brass ring holding the wick holed into place.
Plus when I re did the joints it was used to dress back some lumpy bits of old solder.
Fuel tight. The wire joint facing the camera warped in the repair, or in removing it from the lantern. I did not notice it until just then.
Finish is bare metal and a silk clear coat(Rattle can). Once the steel was cleaned it took the solder very well.
Using the flame to "encourage" the solder to flow.
Fun work. Not hard, but very pleasing.

Will do for now.
Need to keep my eyes open for a smaller mitre saw. Need 800mm for mine and dont have the room.
Left it for easy cutting out in future.
Few more bits but that can wait. Can start moving stuff in now.

Aye. Normally buy a refirmbed Galaxy note 3 but currently using a very old Galaxy S2 (not note) not much wrong with it but the camera.Don't buy HTC as there customer service is literally none exsistant. Spent £370 on a phone and the back fell off and the didn't want to know!
Samsung seem good though.
