Errrr, have we seen pics of the warehouse , or did they slip past me?

Most of my stuff is at home. But I have a yard where I keep my lorries and stuff. There are machines tucked away up there

sling it under the bed to the left of the gap, just protect the leads screw though and take the motor off

That was my thought. I was worried about stressing the swan neck with the weight of the headstock. The swan neck is just over 2 inches thick and has heavy bracing

I hope this works, but when I moved my big Harrison the weight distribution was still miles off and it couldn’t be done without attaching to the very end of the lathe. As it’s a different model it’s got somewhere suitable to do this and yours might be balanced differently - I hope so for your sake anyway.

So do I bill. Am exploring all avenues at the moment.

run the saddle to near the end if the bed to offset some weight .what I would also do is where its slung underneath the bed at headstock is strap it round so that it cant slip along the bed . if you lift the lathe slightly put a scaffie pole under the the headstock pedestal near to where you are going to sling it you will find the center of balance before its even lifted

I'd remove the chuck and slip a wide sling around the bed bracing right in front of the headstock in double choke arrangement. Wind the saddle all the sway to the right and hope it hangs tail-heavy on the sling. Then use a second sling more to the right to keep it stable.

Today I got my Harrison out the workshop and ready for pick up. Used 8 lengths of 1inch bar to roll it on. Sorted. I opened up the door under the tailstock end and found a nice set of big lathe dogs. Happy days.

That is exactly what I am going to do. Strip. Clean. Sort any issues and put back together.

You want to ditch that modern electrical starter hiding the B&H plaque. Get a nice MEM Startet one or something. Red and green Bakelite

@Seadog has kindly forwarded me a parcel containing a new cover for the changewheel area on my lathe. Attached is a brass B&H plaque, quite happy to have that instead of the aluminium 600 group printed one on my current fibreglass one. The showroom must have been phenomenal back in the day.

At one time everything substantial in my garage had a Buck&Hickman tag on it.

That Harrison is a fine looking tool and would improve any home.

It is. When the lifting eye rears it’s head you know there’s some serious horsepower

Moving the lathe was reasonably easy. I was on my own. But moving the 6.5 inch buck hickman pipe threading machine is a different story. This thing is massive and a nightmare to move. It does come apart but requires removal of the main gear shaft.
