^^^ Couldn't agree more. It is so easy to go that extra mile in finish and the engineering when it is appreciated, then when someone says HURRY THE F!!K UP, WHAT'S THIS GOING TO COST and or THE FISH DON'T CARE. I always ask would you like that polished or prettied up, only a few say YES PLEASE. Sometimes I just can't help myself and do it anyway

I try and do my best and when my work is appreciated I try to go the extra mile. The young guy that has the boat is appreciative and likes things to be done as best they can and isn't frightened to spend the money to get things the way he wants. People like that make it a pleasure to do your best.

and there you go, the difference between us and the rest, it's called pride in your work.. Sadly lacking today, "ach it'll do", "no time to do it right", "no one will see it etc", "rough enough is good enough".. heard this all before unfortunately.

I take pride in the work I do, always have. It was drummed into us as kids and luckily as an apprentice, take the time to do it right, attention to the detail, do the job like it was for yourself, clean up behind you, leave it as you found it etc.... The number of times I've looked at something and said if I was the client would I accept that, no, then it's in the bin or reworked... aye, it's not always a way to make money, but what I'm finding is that those that care come back again, those that don't probably wouldn't anyway..

It's height and angle adjustable so I can use it an any of the machines where good light is needed during operations. Three levels of illumination and is recharged through USB

I was given it by a local chap who knows of my interest in such things. It came from his F-I-L's garage when he retired and as far as I can work out was used for crimping connections onto airline or hydraulic[?] hoses.

I can do better pics if it'd help with identification.....

No wonder your memory is failing, #11634 is quite a bit in the future we are only on #5289 now

I didn’t actually make this, per se, but I gave it a clean up and a good sanding, then a coat of some sort of wood oil today. It is a ‘bar’ wifey and I bought in the Philippines some 20 years ago, and though I never really liked it I have hung onto it over the years, and inherited it during the divorce.

It sat outside for a couple of years, in the hot Asian sun, got a bit messy, but today I decided to get industrious and give it a second chance. When we bought it they had put a coat of nasty coloured varnish all over it, and I thought that was the actual wood colour, but it is white in places now I’ve sanded most of that off. I meant to take some ‘before’ photos, as it was pretty horrible mud colour with various mildew and damp stains.

I think they said it was Acacia wood, back when we bought it. Not sure where to put it, as my 3 bed semi is tiny compared to our old house over in the Philippines......

Dopey here must have forgotten to ensure that the pipe at the outside tap on the back wall didn't have any water left in it, when he turned off the supply to it before Winter.

Despite the insulation, as might be expected, it left me a reminder today when I turned it back on......

10 minute job, all fixed and good to go! Lesson learned......
