Hi I had to insulation test a generator on HMS Sheffield after the cooling header leaked, used one of these meggers 1000v version , made up some leads held the megger and cranked away squirting 1kv into my thumb, still remember that from 1978View attachment 172902
Another Vintage Evershed & Knowles megger insulation tester.

This one is unusual in that it is dual range so it can be used for continuity testing as well.

That makes 3 meggers I have, all working perfectly. Probably too many so the Record Minor will be up for sale soon.
I tried some G10 cutting compound on a cloth on the red one & it came up beautifully, the marbled bakelite finish looks lovely. Finished it off with clear wax.

Probably useful for me: i am not into knives, I have a few filleting/fishing knives that I have never sharpened since I got them. Will give it a go.Got the lansky when I was really into my knifes, if I cant be bothered getting out the wet stone and spending ages on it then I grab this and get a great edge in 10 minutes. They do what you need but you wont learn anything on them....if that matters![]()
lol. It"s catchingI''ll see your spanners and raise you ten.

Work was mad, many hours spent driving and dealing with "Customers". But I was out of my normal patch. So I was looking out for shops the "Ardvark liberation Front" to visit.
We found a shop.
We went in.
