If they hadn't done it they wouldn't be so rare so would be worth a lot less though. Less than 20 years ago I was offered a Scimitar for free just to get it out of the way and I didn't want it. I don't see the fascination with them and I'd rather have the Capri they were based on any day.

Posted it off before id settled the balance.

Unfortunately the handle didnt fare well. Old brittle plastic.
Gonna be mounted under a bench anyway.
Now to consider how to adjust height.
Planning an above table removable handle to wind a screw.
Hate faffing under a bench to adjust height.

could you use the hight ajuster thats there at the moment just drill through the base and have a wing nut above to pull or drop it as you move the wing nut the springs there for it to drop down

Not your fault mate. Packaging was ok. Like I said in pm. Will be under a router table anyway and can always turn some new handles from Ali if needed.

Be a bit more involved than that,will use the lug that the bolt fixes to the body to hold a bracket and captive nut.
Bolt will be captive to the base but able to rotate with a square or hex head for a removable handle to slot into from above.

Have a few screws kicking around that should do the job.

Which got me wondering, how the hell did I ever pinch them from the skip in the first place, given I had to climb in and re-shuffle all the tables dumped on top, then carry them 500m up a hill to my studio... I suppose if it’s free you do it, no matter the cost!

Nobody seems to know where it came from.

The mounting lugs are for just that - mounting. You can mount a row of them, I’ve seen six working together to glue a bench top in a glue-up operation.

I know a guy that used to build the stand up and just lifted the mixer onto the stand, he was a big lad though.

He's probably got a knackered upper & lower spine like me & thousands of others who did silly tricks like that … " I'm not very bright , but I can lift heavy things " .

Last night I was in pain / discomfort top gear & overdrive . , just couldn't focus or recognise the horrendous spellings with an extra couple of doses of pain meds in me .

Had a proper duvet day today .. things are easier right now .

Have some nice cramps that fit to sized timber as well as the above. Must get around to making some nice long bars for them

At the college we had the newer Record ones, a good 1.8m length on them, and four of the proper old heavyweight Record ones which only hold about a metre at best. I dropped a painting and totally munted the corner, one of them bailed me out big time! Only if you knew you’d know... most people thought I wasn’t showing the damaged painting as they couldn’t spot it
