A few days ago i acquired a Bodyfile for leadwork, Just at the right time as i was about to order one online at a cost of £45 & found the exact same thing for six quid.
I also got a large moore & wright engineers scraper & a Jorgensen toggle action hoof trimmer, dunno why but i couldnt resist it, might be useful for removing scrotes fingers one day!

What are they for? Besides the obvious of course, is there a speciality that I can't see?

They are meant for setting lathe tool heights, it fits on a rod in the chuck and you rest the circular steel part on the tool tip and adjust the height until the level shows it is level. Only really any good if you lathe is level I would think.

From fb last year I got a free large roller cab. A big steel and ss workbench coffee machine a load of key clamp gear I racked the lockup out with. Scaffolding. Not to mention the stuff I parted with money for.

Only thing I really use fb for other than the company page.

But snow made collection impossible that day.
So the seller arranged for UPS to deliver them to me, at no extra charge.

French paraffin blow torch. It looks like it will work. I think the pump washer needs so attention.

That sticker was a bit difficult to remove. The clear tape, and the residue from the sticker was terrible. Plus it didn't even burn.




It does flame, but the pump washer is on its last legs. It is a Metric size and I am seeking a replacement.





To be honest, the brass does not shine well at all. It takes a shine and very quickly dulls off. I thought I had contaminated my buffing mop. But a test on a Sievert unit shows it is the metal of the French item.

What are my plans for it.

A Mismatch pair of French Carriage lamps.
Ok they did not come from a shop. but from a site I was working on, North of Paris. I was allowed to remove them from the decaying remains of 2 carriages. Only 2 brackets per carriage. Front and rear.
It was one from each, someone has already removed the other two.

Mrs TYA has always liked the idea of them, the ones we have seen here are expensive.

They both work, but are in need of some TLC.



They are of tin plate construction with lead solder joints. A challenge.



One even had a tallow candle in the spring holder.
Yes it still works, old school.

but it does have a peculiar smell to it.

It's just possible that those carriage lamps are off a horse-drawn hearse. A cousin [sadly, not longer with us] had a matching pair with beautiful cur glass lenses - he had them either side of their front door.

The house my parents bought in the 60's had a covenant in the deeds not allowing tallow candles to be made so my dad, being pig-headed made one
