can you get them for metal lathes? or are they just for woodlathes?
@slimjim that was as close as I got but how to easily power the top slide at a constant rate the same time as the thread cutting![]()
OK, times up, couple of answers were on the right track
1. Cut taper with the topslide set at the required angle
2. Screwcut the thread using the screwcutting facility on the lathe with an indicator fixed to the lathe set to zero on the back of the topslide. Maintain the zero position on the indicator by winding out the cross slide as the thread cutting tool advances. Does require a steady hand
I think I'll use my taper attachment if I never need to cut a tapered thread![]()
