Dandie Dinmont terriers any one got one?

We had two dogs for a long time, lost both due to old age, been dog less for six months and was thinking of getting a Dandie Dinmont as we feel it would fit in well with the family ( two teens)
So any advice as its a breed we have never had before.
Had Mongrels yorkies and Lhasa's in the past, need it to be able to travel so we can take it everywhere we go.

Do you know where you can get them from, it's years since i've seen one. The estate agent at Harewood used to have one, he used to bring it with him on shoot days it was quite a character.

Think Sir Walter Scott bred them. Might be some in the Scottish Borders, can ask my mother of she knows of any

They were named after a character in one of SWS novels, knew there was a connection. There will be owners clubs for them and the KC wil have a list of breeders.

My parents used to have one although he wasn't planned as some <insert sweary word here> dumped him near where they live. He was a lovely dog and we never did figure out why anyone would leave him, if he was a typical example of the breed I would highly recommend one.

The breed apparently is on the decline and a group of enthusiasts are trying to get the numbers up again. They meet in Selkirk every year for a conference, more than that my mother doesn’t know.

Not yappers, originally bred for hunting otters and other small stuff
I am told you have more chance of seeing a live panda than a Dandie, went to the local Flea market and you guessed it saw a lovely one owner was quite surprised that we knew what it was.

They look similar to the Miniature Schnauser, my daughter has one and recently bred these little furballs. All gone within a week to very good homes, cracking temperament and very intelligent.

We want a bitch and only feel its right to breed her at least once to keep the breed going. Hoping to go to crufts on Terrier day to meet a few
