Hi F/J, in your pic showing the 8 vertical pipes, are you given much tolerance for the flanges relative to each other?

I was going to ask a similar question:-
How do you do your fit up and welding sequence, to guarantee the finished sizes/angles etc? I know i'd find that difficult. You do it every day.. so what's the trick?

r,s , drains, that is an interesting aspect of this pipe trade, i have over the years worked with some really, lets say difficult pipefitters, i can only wear one hat at a time so am to an extent subject to the whims of the fitter involved. an old guy who i worked with for some years would have tacked that setup as is and any pulling involved would have been down to the welder. the setup in question still wasn,t the approach i would have used, all eight branches would have been rolled leaving 8 positional butts. as regards your question a good level and a tape added to a pair of good eyes and a bit of common sense should cover this as a spool. that said a couple of carrots work wonders on site just to finish an accurate drawing helps, my mate had to take 4" out of each side, i appreciate your time lads f/j

I have come across a few difficult fitters in the past, they often seem to think they are the most important people on site, but thats another story

The cut and shut of that spider, was that due to things not being as drawn when you get to site?

i am so impressed by your welding, i post a bit of an essay on another thread of you sorry about that but i am very exciting about your reply, just a quick question for this one you said you use 6013 on electrode neg all way out root fill camp i thought was best just to electrode neg for root lookforward to your reply always

that is a water service lorry in the background, must be for NIWS? been round some of the WTW and sewage sites myself, love the engineering in them!
