Then look at a d4 or d5 , then principle is the same , however the claims for power output on the chinese stuff hasn't been verified.

You won't need a 5kw heater in a 110 , even the military ambulances only had a D5 for arctic use (Land class A -40 TO +55C) a D4 is overkill, a D2 is a far better bet, you need the heater to modulate to move the flame front and prevent them carboning up .

My webasto is (L x W x H) 12.25 x 4.78 x 4.85 in (311 x 120 x 121 mm)

The air/exhaust pipes look identical so they should line up if I have abit of wiggle room.

2kw is plenty, Its only an insulated cab I am heating as the rear is blocked off.

I’ve just bought another heater, this time a 2kw for the big hut (8x12’ maybe?). I am in the process of setting it up, so testing it yesterday. Doors of hut left open, it raised the temp by 7 degrees in 20 minutes on lowesr setting, and it was a bloomin’ cold day.

The 2kw should easily keep you warm, and it’s significantly smaller than the 5kw.

It's possible they are the correct item, the Chinese have a habit of translating one version of their product and using the same stickers/instruction manuals for the same products with higher specs. I've noticed it on several Chinese purchases.

Mine is badged 5-8kw - no way is it 8!

just watched video in hospital waiting room. with captions on, and sound off.

it's like the subtitles have been written by the same person who writes the instructions for the heater.

I've never tried the subtitles option, had to turn it off after a few minutes, they were so funny it was distracting me from the video

Are you saying the 2kw is a physically smaller unit ? I had a full enclosure for my mobility scooter which such a heater was an option and wondered how it would fit.

In theory would it be possible to run a 12v heater off 24v by using a, say, 5amp 24v to 12v inverter plus a small 12v battery to provide the extra amps during the initial start up ?
