I saw 4 enamelled Green light shades on the way home today. But I will not pay the price of £50 each for them.

That will be the hipster price turning every thing industrial in to over priced fashion items.

But I didn't mind parting good money for this.

World War 1 British 18pounder shell case, cut down and decorated with "Trench" or "Prisoner" art. There is a bit of detail, but the word does say "France"

There is a lot of historic damage, I think it was flattened at one point and restored round again.



I plan to tidy up, keep the historic damage and details. I may "Re Dot" some of the art work. But nothing to drastic.

How did Mrs TYA take this?
Very well, as we are tracing her family History and this may be linked to a Great Great Grand father life or his family.

Following on from the recommendations in this thread, today I received a pair of Altbergs, courtesy of the British taxpayer, MoD, and an auction facility.
Altberg Defenders - Boots, Combat, High Liability, Brown Male.
My thanks to Trooper Thornton for breaking them in for me; there is hardly any sign of wear on them, so they'll do me for a good while yet.
As mentioned above, slipping them on is a pleasure; almost like walking into a boudoir.

I got these from the screw fix barging corner the bolts are high tensile m20x150mm and cost £3.99 for the bag of 25 and the split washers are a2 m12 and cost £0.99 for the bag of 100

I have no use for either at the minute but they were to cheap to pass I walked away from them five times but I kept coming back

He is in the huff as we have to keep him caged for a month and all he wants to do is wander about. I have to be careful not to say work or shop or worse both together as he jumps up with a gleam in his eyes.

Today, was repair, restore and hope it works



The worse crack, runs 80% of the height of the case.
So how to repair.
Step one, a very small drill, drill the crack ends, drastic, but wait.

Step two. 2 part adhesive, mix with brass powder ( used in traditional paint making), best done with the glue warm. You want it to look like cake butter icing, but a dull brass colour.

Step three. From the inside, apply the glue. You don't want it to over spill on the outside, but just to fill the crack.

Step four. Let dry..




You will end up with a sealed, black line after polishing. The dirt cleaned of from the case, along with the bras in the glue will stain and give it an age look.

You will never hide the damage, but this way the damaged is stabilised and does not look new.
I would use animal glue or pearl glue, but this time I was short of time and I did not have any.



Cleaned, using the dirt to "Hide" my repairs. It will be allowed to tarnish again, get polished again until I have a look I like.
Plans are afoot for it.

Research into the 18pdr.

First Charged in Jan 16, refilled May 16. July 16 stamped for drill use.
After that the history is non existing.

may I ask were you got the cage/pen from, my springer is having the exact same operation next week and at the moment all I have is a 30" crate that she will go absolutely daft in after an hour let alone a month,

I ordered a child's pen from eBay and it should have been here today but I was informed it would be Friday so I called my Sister and asked if she had one I could borrow. Afraid I have no idea where she got it, knowing her it was probably on Gumtree or something
This is the one I have ordered, not sure if it will be high enough for Max and more than likely will be too low for a springer but..
