We had something similar than my mother iced the Christmas cakes with back in the 1970's though it came in a larger box. The box contained the piping set and a 10" or so turntable along the lines of a welding positioner only made of pink plastic and chromed pressed steel. I had forgotten all about it until now.

Sadly with the council employing "Bin Snoopers" to check you bin waste it is getting more lightly that you could end uo with a fine.
Near me and myself have bean fined by the council for ""Waste Rules Infringements" I have posted in the past about those snoopers.
I was find for trade waste, eg. the cardboard box's from work.
Neighbour was find for putting a waste oil container in the plastic recycling bin.
It will get worse.

But I suggested it goes in the asbestos bin not just trying to shove it in the general one!
Most council tips have them for small amounts.
If I thought I was likely to get a fine for doing the right thing then I'd dump it in my waste bin at home and the poor sods that have to work with it will get the fall out!
Oh wait a minute that's what's happening EVERYWHERE these days because people don't give a toss!

You are not trained, authorised or licensed to work with highly friable asbestos materials. Rope seals are highly friable asbestos materials and MUST be handled and disposed of appropriately. Disposing of it at the tip is highly irresponsible as you are putting workers who are non the wiser at risk of exposure.
If that’s what you do and you get caught, you deserve every punishment dished out!

There is often a place at the local tip to take small amounts of the stuff. I'm not saying to dump it in a bin somewhere!
If the bloody staff don't know not to mess with it when it's been disposed of properly there then what the hell is the point of it?
Anyway I only pointed out to the chap with the old switch gear what it might be so he doesn't get a lungfull of the stuff. I don't need anyone ranting at me about how dangerous asbestos is on a bloody welding forum. You know from previous that I'm careful of the stuff after finding Vermiculite in my loft.
I work in the building industry so it's all around me all the time.
Anyway I've better things to be doing now with the boys.

I will show that council advice sheet to the folks at work. It’s not clear at all and makes no distinction about different types of asbestos. It not very well written at all
The only type that anyone can work on is asbestos cement. It’s what’s called non licensable work because it typicallly has less than 1% asbestos. Precautions are still required. The only type of asbestos waste taken by local authority tips is asbestos cement because it presents a fairly low risk of expose when handled correctly.
While I don’t know the modus operandi of every local authority I’d be very surprised if many had the means to handle friable asbestos waste, that’s things like asbestos insulation board, pipe lagging, textiles and flash breaks. Assuming that it was removed by whatever means, and is correctly wrapped and bagged you need a waste carriers license to transport it, which in turn means that there will be a ton of paperwork involved.
Unless you are trained, have a special medical, issued with a license by the HSE and have all the specialist equipment I suggest that it’s best left to the experts
Despite the fact that asbestos cement is non licensed work meaning that anyone can work with it, things go very wrong sometimes. There’s a live case at the moment where a large part of an estate has been contaminated as a result of the careless and stupid actions of a worker. Contamination Includes washing out to dry, children’s toys in gardens, gutters, garages and cars. Involved asbestos cement. I will share details when I can as it will be in the news

The simple fact Parm is that reality differs greatly from the perfect option. Council dumpits have containers marked for asbestos, with no mention of type. Asbestos related stuff gets ripped out/binned daily with little to no precaution, and authorities only tend to care when it's either a clearcut case, a large detrimental effect else, more commonly, just when they can be arsed to do anything.
