I've had another foray into the joys of auctions and picked up a few things along with some tat that I haven't decided what to do with yet. No pictures I'm afraid, I must get to grips with how it's done. So, the most recent turned up a Chesterman 24" vernier in its box, a Benson 24" height gauge in the original case, a bit bigger than I wanted but as it was there I thought I might as well have it, and lurking inside the box was two Verdict dti's,in the original outer boxes. One has never been used,it's still in its sealed bag and the other has had the plastic bag opened but I don't think it has been used either, there was also a Baty clock gauge but that's a bit notchy, it might respond to a clean up. The next lot was a Pryor type set marking punch set, along with a set of Benson 18" Trammels in the original box also a David Brown Gear Tooth Vernier Gauge,also in its box, I doubt if I'll ever use it but it's a nice instrument. The tat includes vintage carpentry tools, wooden woodwork planes,a couple of wooden ammo boxes and a host of other stuff mainly tools, drill bits, files etc.

just 3 thou lash nexjtob is to turn feed screw around might have to cut ends off and weld em on again have a good 4 ft of unused screw

Not acquired today as such, I was rifling through some stuff of my dads when I came across this cut throat razor. I'm pretty sure he never used one, I guess it may have been my granddads. I remember playing with this as a kid and getting a "telling off" when my dad found out 
It's filthy but the edge isn't bad. It says "The Highly Popular Kohinoor Diamond Edge". Doing a bit of searching, it appears that Norvell-Shapleigh Hardware Co. St. Louis possibly owned the trademark but another razor collectors web site indicated it was from Sheffield. Evidently the shape of the blade is an Irish point. The handle is just two pieces of copper, I guess it must have had a covering over the copper at some point. I think I may clean it up a bit, give it a strop and try shaving with it. Is blue masking tape any good as a sticking plaster?

Lots of things... Namely, a flamefast brazing hearth / forge, a beaver model a milling machine, a myford ml7 lathe, more hss bits than I can lob a stick at, a small dust extraction unit, a very old very heavy 3ph converter, and a huge pile of useful steel stock, from 12mm round to 100mm pipe.
All, and you'll hate me for this, for nothing... Well it cost the fuel to get to London and back from Kendal with a trailer on the disco, 2 m6 toll fee's (worth it, why aren't all motorways that nice?!) and a bottle of Highland Park!

The guy was a friends uncle, he's moving abroad and can't take it all with him, he'd rather it went to someone he knew would use it and look after it than just sell on eBay!

Due to a over zealous H&S twerp, todays work was cancelled. So home I went.
Well, I had time, I had the parts. I had 3 espresso's.
Fuse 2 on second circuit board had a dry joint, in fact it has never seen solder. QA on a new PSU was lacking.
Out with a old toy.
A few minutes work and we are rocking.
So to test it.
This pin was to hand, the cable was due to be recycled, so why not.
Old horse shoe and some welding wire.
Pulling 24vDC @1.79amps.
Now we wait.

I know it's Chinese and everything and some people with better equipment wouldn't touch them with a barge pole but I still thought it was a very good price. They had four left last time I checked. It is going to replace my clapped out three jaw. I could have bought a second hand three jaw Pratt Burnerd but chances are the scroll might be shot or the jaws worn. At least this is new. UK warehouse so delivery was just a few days.
