I'm sure they will but Silverline serve a market and do it very well with good backup. We all know you get what you pay for but they back Thier stuff up with an excellent warrany

Thing is how many times do you want to claim on a warranty? Halfords stuff I've had for years & only had a single warranty!

It's not just the hassle of claiming under the warranty, however excellent. The big problem is buying a tool which isn't fit for the purpose and / or does more damage to materials and fingers / knuckles etc. It only takes a few experiences like that to refuse anything of that brand ever again. I have bought plenty of Silverline, Rolson, Blackspur etc and have yet to find anything that is good enough for the job. Don't mean to be unkind and trying to be positive, but there is little I can commend about Silverline stuff.

Had the 52mm Silverline spanner I bought actually measured 52mm (plus a little clearance) then it would have been ideal, as it was cheap and is sturdy. But powder or plastic coating the jaws of a spanner is plainly ridiculous. Coat the rest of the spanner by all means, but not the jaws. And make sure the damn thing fits correctly on a 52mm nut. It really isn't that difficult.

Bought a cheap x y vice tp find all the ways had been painted.
Bit of fettling and does the job.
Expected it with cheap tools though.

My einhall lasted about that. The current model I replaced with lasted 2 hours. The yellow 18v that replaced iit has been hammered for 2 years and counting

Tempted just to buy another cheap one, As I only use once every couple of months?

I assume you mean't Fein?

If so they were the original when it comes to oscillating multi tools I believe!

Bargain. Had a few feins both corded and 18v on long term loans from employers. Dewalt 18v is better. Lower vibe and really precise trigger for starting slow when needed.
Think I paid 90 naked inc t stack.

yep the new ones have come along way on improvements

Couldn't go back to a corded multi tool now.
Just wish dewalt would pull there finger out. Really want there 18v 1/4 router but only seen them sold stateside.

I never knew how different an orbital sander could be until I bought a Makita.....you can use it all day with no finger tingles....and it sands better...somehow...

Sadly it's not all about cost, I know several people who have the "It was £20 if it breaks I'll buy another" mentality often they will end up spending as much as buying a decent one. The one thing people often forget is the quality one will be much nicer to use and as @TechnicAl says until you used a decent one you'll never know. If you put in simple cost/lifspan then often a cheap tool works out and if you've bought it for one job then I fully understand the reasons.

There is a real joy in using a top end quality tool compared to the cheap one if you take the cost out of the equation.
