Silverline, rolson, neilson, Clarke, draper, bluespot, hilka and loads of others at the cheapo end – when you see the online offerings, colours & “brand logos” differ but a lot of the tools look identical.
It does make me wonder if a lot of this crap is all manufactured by 1 or 2 – I have a selection of this crap I might add...

I use bluepoint took kits day in and day out, if anything snap on gear is ****e compared with the blue point tools! Yesterday i snapped two snap on 17 impact sockets, i have milwaukee ones which look as good as the day i bought it! Which ones do you think got used most?

Still using a lot of stuff I bought when I did my apprenticeship 27 years ago . Most of my Hilka socket set (although the box didn't survive dad reversing over it with the combine ) Still got a lot of my combi spanners, can't remember whos they are, not even a name on them.
I'm going to be scouring e-bay soon as I need some imperial spanners for the Land Rover.

Thought you only need one spanner for a Land Rover...half inch.....

I was using a Silver line Ball pein hammer all day.

I un wrapped it.

Used it as a paper weight, only thing it did well.

I object to hilka and Draper being included in that list. I've found hilka to be mid range and definitely streets ahead of silverline, and Draper pro stuff is spot on. I buy it in preference over any other brand. Snap on included.

Yep, I have a Draper professional 3/8" socket set and it's very good. At least as good as Halfords Professional gear.

If quantity of cheap tools from China goes down post virus due to additional trade barriers, we might all get used to more costly but 'for life' tools again.

And in USA Harbor Frieght might become a chandlery...

some draper expert stuff is good. For example, their allen keys. For some reason, draper allen keys (the bog standard ball end black ones) are as good as anything else on the market - I should know, because I've bought loads of sets over the last few years for our boys! Streets ahead of Wera, Teng, Beta and a few others... Facom are comparable and have a better holder.
Oh - and the socket extension wobble bars! Seriously! Fantastic bit of kit! I would NOT be without them, and they've seen some serious impact abuse!
I don't know if they still sell them, but it was 2x 1/2", 4x 3/8" and 3x 1/4" extensions, all in one set.

Some cheap brands have simply good stuff. Some expensive brands have some utter rubbish. It's just working out what is what.

I've never had a single thing from silverline that I thought was any good... same from Bergen, nielsen, or rolson. All junk IME, nothing I've managed to make last, or wanted to keep.

Clarke - has some terrible stuff, also has some really decent bulletproof stuff, like their clarke pro sockets and ratchets.

I still have some old Hilka spanners - bigger sizes that I can't justfity upgrading to "posh" ones - they've always been fine for me, I use em on tractors etc.

Another vote for Halfords Pro/Advance - perfectly decent for the price point. I have a set of swivel head ratchet spanners and they're great.

Unfortunately there will always be a market for cheap tools, so manufacturers will always make something to fill that end of the market

@Munkul I've got a set of those Draper black ball ended Allen keys in a blue holder, I've had them for years. Blaardy good tools!

10mm bluespot ordered to replace a lost decent quality wrench. Snapped after a few uses.

Managed to convert it into a bottle opener and hasn't broken with that task yet however wouldn't be surprised
