Chaps ,
I was wondering if I can pass something by you guys as I’m not sure what to do, basically my boat trailer is in a bit of a bad state(better than most tho)! And I need to renew the axle, I’m also trying to find a way to lower it as well, see photo 1
The centre section is the axle which I want to come out which leaves the two box sections as part of the frame, what I’m planning on doing is putting another bit of box section on the right to make it level with the Boat guide and then welding a metal plate over the top, then bolting some new suspension arms to the metal plate lowering the trailer but raising the bolting point for the suspension, the only thing is I have no idea what thickness the steel plate needs to be I was thinking 6mm, my boat weighs roughly 500kgs fully loaded, is this feasible, I’m thinking of bolting this all together and welding as I’m not 100% confident in my welding as it’s a major failure point due to me being new.
Cheers for your help in advance
