Just played with the new digital AC/DC.

Weird having to snap out, on the Parweld you just hold the button down for a second or so and the down slope starts, release again when at end current and the arc extinguishes. That is all from one button.

To be honest, it's a mode I've never tried so I made an assumption about the snap-out. I'll try it and see how it behaves. As you say, it is odd, but I couldn't figure out how they would do this from a single button.

It sugests it is as you say from the diagram on the panel.
On the parweld you press and hold until the arc is initiated, you then release and it slopes to set current, tap quickly and it drops to end current, tap again and back up to set, hold button and it will downslope to end then release and the arc is extinguished.

The tapping is very handy when Alu is getting a bit hot and starting to run away from you, tap and it gives you a cooler arc which lets you slow down, once cooled enough you tap again and back to main current.

These have a robot interface inside on a terminal strip, it could be that the 4t mode we are discussing is for use with that. I can't remember the exact signals present on the robot interface, but they are numerous from what I do recall of the manual.

I don’t see any reason why you can’t do this. This is just standard 4T control. Nothing specific to parweld.
Press and hold- machine slopes up to start current.
Release- machine goes to main current.
Tap - Machine slopes down to stop.
Tap again before it stops- machine goes back to main current.
Providing you don’t let the arc extinguish when you tap to slope down you can re instate it back to main current by pressing again.
Set a long down slope to allow gradual decrease and just tap again when you want to reinstate the main current.
Both my machines work like this on one button in 4T.

Doubtful but non the less its £50 on a grand you should not spend on what is esespecial a hobbiest machine re badged chinese import.

Was being a little facicous. A 5% cost would not be passed on as 5% to the customer in most functioning businesses. I acactual think the cost very unbelievable anyhow.

So sorry to drag up the past but @HughF you maybe the bloke to speak to regarding a mate machine.

He has a Hitachi gp 300, but has recently started giving him some grief with swapping from dc to ac mid weld or issues.

I honestly haven't played with it etc but was wondering if you or anyone had any information on it (To see if anything is easy enough to look at repairing)
