Best I've seen like that was a set of old jump leads across the meter, the proper old type with exposed crocodile ends and a bit of coloured hose for insulation, brave man !

Started work in aotomotive parts supply, a dozen jobs later Kiln burner producing house bricks. One job I did enjoy was bin man pre wheeled bins, good hours good mates and weirdly satisfying working physically hard in all weather's. Some of those old galvanized bins where just as heavy empty as full.
The 1st Stafford show I went to was with the South Wales gang, (probably my 1987) and I had a very tatty red modified MKII GT6. After consuming a few too many beers on the Friday night we thought it would be a good idea to enter it in the modified GT6 concourse class and as there were only 2 others I got 3rd prize and still have the trophy
Following years I worked for Steve Gill Sports cars so was always on his stand and didn't get to take a car of my own
Last one I attended was in 1995 with my then GF and she had a dark green 2l Bond,
I use to speak to Steve Gill on his stand every year at least a couple of times over the weekend, so we would have seen each other at least the Foot and Mouth was 2001 which I could not go to as I had German Shepard and dogs were not allowed on site, no doubt I would have spoke to the then G/F with the Bond, as there was never many Bonds. did go a couple of times after but things moved on now play 4x4 or 6x6

Was going to do a degree in Mec Eng, but my higher maths was rough (mild dyslexia, not known about back then) so did a stint building trailers, mostly for boats, but some for racing cars and some specials for Lotus. Spent a bit of time with a crop dusting outfit, then joined a new aircraft base. Looked after the air taxis and maintained assorted others. Several rebuilds on classic biplanes, after three yrs I was running the hanger. Bit later, a friend in Portugal had a car prang, so I decided to give things a rest for six months and give him a hand running the farm. Well, he decided to quit and I became a rose farmer... UK owners asked me to sell it, which I managed to do. Then met a woman and decided I liked it down there. We ran a shop with antiques and other things and I got to travel around buying stock, seeing a lot of the back country. Meantime I worked up other contacts and rode shotgun for a German shipping company. They had large properties and land, plus their big yacht used to come in for winter work. My background in boats (father designed them and I have been sailing since 4) lead to a lot of work in that area. Engines, rigging and occasional structural work. All the time I kept a workshop and did general fabrication. Picked up design work for a garden company on stuff like gazebos and bridges, some quite big, while sorting mech stuff on their equipement. Hands on was with mostly ukranian workers. I draw the pix and supervised.
The shop ran foul of the tax rules (30% payable on display(!) so we switched it to a bar and parted company. Bar opened in '85 and is still running well.
Got roped into looking after the kit in a bakery. The nearest service bloke was UK for the Do-Nut machine. Don't laugh, it could knock out 18,000 a night.
Anyway, in 04, they decided to build yet more tourist accomodation across our view of the sea, one of the few natural parks left in that area and Mrs KF had a couple of skin problems with the sun. The garden Co was in turmoil and I had got bored with Do-Nuts.
So, after 30yrs down there, here we are in France.
I keep at the fabrication work with a workshop in the outbuildings. Mostly decorative work, along with gates, railings and furniture. Local marina needs occasional SS work and the odd engine service or rebuild. House is an on-going restoraton......

On my last visit, I was a plastics fabricator, after an enforced hiatus from being a plastic fabrication estimator.
I am now a plastic fabrication estimator again but at a much better place.
Ex- modelmaker and plastic fabricator/supervisor/maintenance all round clever-clogs.
I have nothing to do with metal in my day-to-day life but still play weldy weldy when time allows, which recently it has not.

Started off spinning the handles on a Bridgeport (and other things) for a small engineering company ...ended up as a sculptor. In between (and during) have worked in interiors, mostly building kitchens and furniture making, have been a maker of archive quality museum reproductions (mostly fossil and skeletal models) and anything else I could turn my hand to to make a penny or two ...it's been a blast! Think I was just put here to play at making stuff.

Retired now but started off as an Electronics Engineer, moved into Automotive microcontroller design, then started my own business Race Diagnostics, then finished off doing consultancy at CERN. Shipped my last order for RaceDiagnostics this week and will now concentrate on car restoration and housework as directed by my Mrs who is still working.
