Weirdly, I've always been able to send out any communications (replies) directly from my phone email account not via the eBay app. They seem to let them send and don't block email addresses or phone numbers. Not tried it for a few months but worked quite recently.

As i say they are going to insane lengths now

This is the first I've heard of it, could it be beaten with something like "My number is 0A7A5A8A3A4A5A3A9A5A4 but without the As"?

It's not going to stop outside sales, it's just going to pee off everyone who does follow the rules.

Off topic, I had a parcel this morning direct from an EBay merchant outside of EBay. I checked his contact details and emailed him direct then ordered over the phone, cheaper for both of us as the PayPal and EBay parasitic fees were non existent. Just like the olden day’s!

I've notes in ebay parcels from the seller directing me to their website for better prices

write down your number, take a pic of it then send the photo via the ebay messaging service. Simples.

I very much doubt that's in Applecross - as said, it's MILES out of the way - seen the same scam with Sellers listing big lathes and other machines etc in Ullapool when it's clear there's no engineering works near the place. Hacked accounts.

This needs reporting to the 'Bay who'll remove the listing before someone gets stung. Iirc, a member here lost over a grand to a similar scam a while back?

I believe I was classed as a business seller on ebay, and I was most definately NOT allowed to give out my details. Saying that, a couple of sellers found my phone number, and contacted me directly. That made the whole thing appear a bit ‘double standards’ to me. Especially after getting my listings pulled for attempted direct contact with a couple of customers, because trying to send a decent picture via ebay messaging is hopeless.

Apparently, this was interpreted as trying to sell outside ebay.

Another honest seller pushed out of ebay. I now sell via my own webshop, etsy, and Handmade at Amazon, but that suits my items. Not much cop for other stuff.

You do know the terms of Handmade at Amazon, Give them the right to rip off your designs and have them manufactured in a cheaper way and you have no come back for royalties etc. There was a big discussion about it on a craft forum I am on.

Well from what I can see all the business sellers have there contact details section displayed at the bottom of every listing, I believe that its the law that they have to display this. Ebay will only remove your listings if you write the same details in the actual listing.

Still works fine. Just reply directly via your mobile email app NOT the eBay app. Sends and receives ok. I use mailwise but the default android app used to do it fine too.

If you mention in ebay messages legal information they were picking that up. Seems like they have stopped.....i dont know why.

Maybe, but whatever they use to block you sending it is subverted doing it this way. Not been a problem .... yet!
