I buy makita 115mm grinders in 110v and 240v. Your can get the 650w version with the slimmer grip for £50 or less and I can attest they will last a good 2-3 years in professional use and abuse. Just got one changed now for the brushes it's not really worth the repairs by the time they are popping when you consider the cost.
Stored and used dry in hobby use I would imagine you might get a decade or more out of one

My experience of using these actual grinders in the cordless is they just haven't got to the standards of others in this particular field. Battery drain is real rapid. Not that I don't like makita because I love it in corded stuff its built tough and gets the job done! But even with a bank of pre charged batteries I find the grinders a pain you spend more time changing the batteries than actually working.
Off the to of my head I have two corded makita drills. Two breakers and four grinders so it's not a brand loyalty thing
Battery grinders are power hungry at the best of times but I get one matabo battery to four minimum in the makitas. The matabo also has more power and runs a bigger disc with better ergonomics

I've got the cordless and the 115V version of these. They are phenomenal. The best grinders I have owned by a long long way.
You think with the 115V, that doesn't sound very powerful, its so smooth, but when you push against a flap wheel or stone, blimey it removes some metal.

Don't know what's wrong with your cordless Makita Kent but we have both the brushless 115mm Makita and the 115mm Metabo and whilst the Metabo is slightly smoother, the runtime with both on the same size battery is almost the same give or take a couple of minutes - usually in the favour of the Makita.

I still have my original large angle grinder, a 7inch Black and Decker it needs another new power cord fitting but it is 45 years old and it will still do a day's work...

Slightly disappointing with the last batch of bosch grinders I bought, of the four two need brushes and one of the heads has bearing problems. Although not used commercially they are used a fair bit and think in a workshop environment they would have a life expectancy of about a month. Beginning to think sub £100 grinders are short lived throw away items.

I don't know how you do that because I do use these at another guys shop who has a selection of them with batteries on a bank charger. I take my matabo now!
Never actually timed it flat out grinding but 25 min of actually working sounds extremely optimistic.
Last job I remember was corner notching a load of 3mm sheets for 40mm box. Can't remember how far two batteries got but it wasn't far enough for me and i run out a chain of extention leads. It actually surprised me in comparison and I am like I say a big fan of makita corded gear, we use the cordless drivers at the place for nut running and they do OK

It’s not really because it depends on what your doing with it. Mine spends its life with a flap disc on it tidying stuff up (spatter, burrs, excess weld height.) and 25mins is realistic. If your pushing it to the point your nearly stalling the motor with a cutting wheel then your sure to juice em out quickly. They are good tools when you need them. Cables ain’t always possible or practical depending on what your doing or where you are.
Corner notching 3mm wall box is heavy going on them. Mine is thirsty but I get good life out of a 5 ah pack if I use it for what it was designed for.
