Ok Mr @Bucks maybe on a smaller scale Not a today but a day type project from a while ago, a fuel caddy made from half a barrel.Got sick and tired being perched up on a machine in the elements trying to decant four Jerry cans of squirt a day into machines.

Cut a barrel in half, plasma cut a 3mm plate set down inside , fitted a pick up pipe, fill tube and finished the top edge of the drum with some 12mm rod. Made a small battery tray and fitted one of those cheap Ebay 12v self priming pumps with a better quality soft rubber delivery hose (important) . Holds over 80ltrs which makes refilling a dawdle and any drips or mess are contained in the top, also does not rattle around all over the place like cans.

I like that, also if you stick a bit of a weldmesh tray in it and the hose will stay out of the muck.

That's a smart bit of kit you have made , much better than climbing onto a wet muddy JCB ,Tractor or dumper in the rain. There could be a market for a thing like that ....

No, had them from a previous chuck that came with a D1-6 taper/fitting and I machined the taper out to fit my CNC lathe and made pins for it (Bayonet fitting C8)

Last night I was board.
I also had found an old sledge hammer shaft. But it had bean left in a shed for years. (dog waling has it advantages) so was dried out. Plus it was to short for my needs.

The head was a bit of seasoned fire wood. TVM Chris I will tell you I stole it next week.



Turned the handle down the notches were cut with a custom made tool. The head end was turned down to 30 mm. More of that latter. Cut down with a hacksaw fitted with 2 blades. That gave me a wider cut for the wedges.

The head was drilled twice. The shaft hole was 32 mm. That gave me a good diameter to tae the 2" oak wedges.
I used some 14mm 9/16th beech dowel to side pin again wedged with oak wedges.

The image is before I started steeping it in linseed oil.

Now the important question is why I did it.

I’m making a info sign to go in a NT garden ,not designed by me,I just advise them if their idea will work.its called a totem,graphic boards will be stuck on later with a coin slot.today I’ve been making the slide in collections drawer.holes are plasma cut with punched corners,one hole will have a toughened glass view window,the other hole will have coin chutes projecting into it.
The totem is made from 8 mm corten .
Will post more when finished.

Collected a trailer load of firewood from the Château (sort of free, cos I help them out on tech stuff) then visited the family of a neighbour who suddenly passed. We had cooked a bunch of nibbles for the after service get together yesterday, but had to bail out after the Church bit as Mrs KF was suffering from the cold and it was sheeting down for the walk from the little 11 cent Church, up to the cemetary. Then back to the w/shop to finish off a rolling gate to install early next week. Did a bit of work on the 1890s restoration gate job that also has to be in before Santa absails down the chimney. I offered to build a new set, but no, they wanted the crappy old ones sorted. No artistic value and made of wrought iron. So doesn't weld well. Takes twice as long as a new set and won't look any better. Ho Hum. A mixed day.
