One question though, why are the T slots facing the same way as the cutting motion? Is that a design flaw or what?

It will have its uses. Bought it coz I liked it.
How is it clamped.It's for machining the ends of shafts clamped vertically in it.
Unfortunately not mate. I work hard through the summer period and buy a few toys. My work finished now for winter so have to watch the pennies.
