Where to buy fasteners online

Hello,

I'm looking to get some high tensile M8 dog point grub screws for my lathe tool holders.

I've looked at a few places online and the prices are either astronomical or the postage is.

Any recommendations?

Make them? That's why you've got a lathe. 8.8 m8 should be cheap and turn them to suit.

Can't help re suppliers. Sure some here will have options.

Have a look at Cromwell Tools, they aren't normally cheap for fasteners, but may be ok for what you want.

There's a place called the but and bolt shop or namerik (I think) in portslade (Brighton). They have everything,and do mail order, but I have no idea on postal cost.

I think what he meant was buy normal grub screws which are more readily available and turn the dog point

Yeah, got the address wrong.

Its confusing, as, if you go there, its called "the nut and bolt store" but if you go online, they have a different name.

Its an old shop though, so nothing suspect - i used to walk there when i lived in brighton!

Work took me near there one day, I had to stop and go inside.

I got that...my post was a bit stroppy so sorry for that! I'm working on a big piece right now that's in my lathe and it's not coming out till its done.

Just needed to get some grub screws quick basically. Not as easy as I thought though. I live in Scotland and one supplier wanted £20 to ship 50 M8 screws that only cost just over a fiver...

Recently I asked for advise for fixings on here, the help was fantastic.

I did not buy on line,, I used the information of the different names and used the web to locate local places what sold the parts I needed.

Well to be honest I asked for information on one thing. That led to me finding out I needed more than one type of fixings.

The up shot was I found all I needed with in a 10 mile radius of home in small local shops and outlets. Ok I also found some great places on my work routs.


Only one item did I need to buy on line. That was 20lts of Blue meths.
