If you mean Namrick then they wanted about 10 pounds to ship to my location. Which is utterly ridiculous and I will not pay.

I fully understand what you are saying but if you need them you need them, just add some other bits to make it worthwhile. I totally agree that £10 is crazy for some screws but many places only deal with couriers these days and if that's to your door then in my mind it's still easier than going somewhere. The nearest place for me to buy unusual fixings is 9miles away so by the time I go there it will an hour plus and £10 doesn't sound so bad.

It's more about the principle. Living where I do I get charged exorbitant rates for postage on silly things. I dont need them that bad.
I've now got some from an eBay seller for free postage. Maybe some think £10 postage is ok for 12 M8 grub screws. Personally I think it's bonkers.

Not really but if it was the only way to get what I needed in the timeframe required I'd bite the bullet.
EBay is usually my first port of call. If it has what I need 9 times out of ten postage is fast and free. Paid 16 quid for a 6" chuck backplate and 20 odd half inch t bolts and nuts plus 4 4" milking clamps to be posted 48 hour.
Ten bolts go in a padded envelope and sent 1st class for peanuts.

If you buy the ones from cromwell, they are £11 ish per 100 with free postage over £20, so buy some other stuff!

Thanks for that lesson in how to buy things from the Internet. Been there before. However, just for laughs, I tried it. The transaction went through nicely.
Then I received an email, about 12 hours later to the effect that I appeared to have made a galactic mistake, and selected the wrong postal rate for my post code...and I can have my goods if I log back on to the site and amend my schoolboy error...
I wasn't trying to teach you anything, I just used the information I had at my disposal to back up my statement that the postage was £2 and fortunately you got the same result.
All everyone here was trying to do was help yet your responses do come across as a little snappy/short/sarcastic but I'm sure that's not your intention.
Looks like Cromwells would be the best shout and order a few other bits that you need.

It's not my intention and if it came across that way I apologise.
I was just trying to convey something if the disappointment and frustration that comes from having a perfectly normal order for something increased in price by several orders of magnitude due to couriers who basically use your postcode as a chance to fleece you. This is a real issue for businesses here that has been taken up by several of our conservative MP's.
I have a compressor in my shop that I originally had to cancel the order for because the postage doubled it's cost. I bought the same model elsewhere and got free delivery. I then went back to the first company and told them what courier arrangements the one I'd bought from were using. They were being unknowingly done out of business by their choice of delivery merchant.
I once had a conversation with a guy on the phone who was adamant I was living on an island. The fact that I live beside the main trunk route between Aberdeen and Inverness and therefore am firmly planted on the United Kingdom mainland seemed to have passed him by.
This area is the centre of the UK oil industry and is as affluent as the South East of England, ok so we do not have anything like the population! But plenty of stuff goes on here..big ships are in and out of the Moray Firth taking pipe made here to lay subsea all over the world..so we need deliveries!

Yes I got the same result initially. What often happens is you get a decent postage rate and then you get an email telling you "sorry, you have selected the wrong postage, simply pay £19.99 and your 10p widget will be on its way..."
Or words to that effect!
And I'm convinced that if you had to put up with this in the South East of England you'd be trying to do something about it.

I do understand your frustration, its not like the modern 'internet age' has left you with much alternate. Local suppliers are reduced to nil as everyone shops on line. A friend in Inverness regularly moans about postal cost and at one point had small amazon stuff delivered to Oslo and hand carried it home.
There is another viewpoint though, I did a job that basically provided radio links from 'Ness to Thurso and out to Skye. We lost money on that job purely on transportation and logistics. This was many years ago when there was no on line shopping and the local suppliers were very poor and incredibly expensive.
If I were a courier I don't think I'd be keen to be in the Highlands.
