Tools from the Bootsales??

I got one once, where I was told I was not allowed in in my "van", so it was suggested I parked just outside the gates and carried the stuff in.

...which I did, and it was all OK?

Autojumbles are good for tools. Take a four wheeled garden trolley and packed lunch like the seasoned pro`s do, I wondered what it was all about until I stood in a queue for an hour just for cup of tea and dogmeat burger, also ended up dumping bags of gear at stalls and having to go back for them, ended up with arms longer than an orangutan.

did this 2 years ago there was a massive wait to get in i only had one black bag to dump on the way to work bloke even nodded as i parked out side and walked it in

6 weeks later same thing parked out side as i walked in bloke stoped me said you cant come in this way i said ever body comes in this way it the only entry exit "yes he said but you need to drive in not walk in heath and safety you could get run over i did nearly think about saying i have been crossing roads on my own since i was 5 years of age i think i can manage but thought better of it and put the bag in the car and went another day

i pass the tip on the way to work and its handy to just drop one or 2 items at a time from home so there not hanging around most of the people know me in passing and nod or a thumb up most i find ok

I say suggested that and was told I could not walk in as a pedestrian.

Problem was they could not provide the signage that stated that. No one wanted to try stopping me after that.

There is one there now.

Which is why they make you walk round the site putting stuff in 20 different skips..with cars backing up and driving round etc. .. Lol

They turn their backs to me now at the council dump and pretend they cant see me. A few years ago I drove in with the van and started to unload while hearing this increasingly loud "Oi" noise, took no notice but the "Oi" noise got louder and louder, eventually had this big red faced bald headed oik stood about two feet away screaming at me. I simply advised him of his job title , told him to be quiet and go away or I would knock him out ( or words to that effect ) No more grief at the local tip since

they wouldn't allow me back in tip cos I dumped a load of trade waste someone took my trailer in with a car a week later with more trade waste and I was wearing a balaclava. dumped the lot then took balaclava off and shouted the guy that banned me . hey mate I told u id be back haha and left fast

I went to one bootsale this morning (Usually go to three at this time of year!)

Didn't get any tools but got a really nice pistol scope (£15), A great set of bins (£4) and two nice electric geetars for £20 each

I can't get in my garage for all the treasures I broght back from the bootsales!!

This was taken when I still had a small amount of floorspace to walk on!!!

As it is now but there's cases (Drills, Jigsaws etc) piled high now

Trouble is there's an MG Midget in there too taking up room!!

Did it arrive after the first pic? It's not too late to get help, you know. If fact if you announced that some had to go, you'd be inundated with offers to 'clear' the excess from the crowd on here.......

Already had offers from a couple of mates on Facebook!!

This year I was going to get the Midget on to the drive and get it as high as possible on stands (From the bootsales!! ) as me knees are bad then I can carry on with the welding sat on a stool! Just cover it with a big lorry sheet that i've had for years to keep the weather off!!

This is our Midge, Bought her then had bad problems with my knees, Ended up having one knee replaced, T'uther is going now!!

Made a start but then ended up off work for a year!!

Went to weekly big one today, weather was a bit on and off and quite a few had packed up already. It was either that or local auction centre that does a whole range of stuff every 3rd Saturday of every month, sales are divided by catagory and I've had some good stuff from the 'Garage and Workshop' section.

Regarding the 'tip treasures' thing, well York is incredibley annoying in that respect. Because York is run 'For the tourist, by the idiot' the people who live here regularly get the short straw in regards to the way things are run/managed and the council tip is no exception.
You can't buy things from there, you can't take things either so gaining to reuse in an actual recycling fashion is pointless. There's many rules about what you can and can't do, and with what vehicle you come with, sometimes it feels like they're purposely trying to prevent you from using the facilities.
You can't come in with a van, stickered up or not. Doesn't matter if it's stuff from your own house or whatever.
You can have a trailer but you can only use it 10 times a year (gets stamped at the gate)
The most confusing one is what happened to us. Now my girlfriend has a pickup truck, and we needed to get rid of our old tumble drier. It would fit very easily in my estate car but my dad wanted to borrow a friends cement mixer and neither me nor him wanted that in our cars, so logically, use the truck, thats what it's for.
So drier goes in and we go off to the tip, get to the gate and we are met with;
"Have you got your permit?"
"What for?"
"Opened backed commercial vehicle"
"It's not commercial, it's a private vehicle"
"Any vehicle with an open back needs a permit, I'll let you in this once but you'll have to get a permit"
"How much does that cost?"
"It's free"
"So what's the point of that then?"
"It's all in this leaflet here, it you put a canopy on you don't need a permit"
"But it's the same vehicle"
"I don't make the rules"

So yeah, we chucked the drier in the scrap container as loudly as we could and went.

im looking forward to them trying to stop me going in with the 110 pickup when its finished, theyre a right bunch of jobsworths at our tip.swan around like they own the place, barking orders at people unloading cars. they dont half get fired up when you bark back.

Bought thoosands literaly of Clecos aircraft skin clamps for £100 guy didnt know what they were made my own pliers to suit cut off bottom jaw and tig on u shape washer

Down here in Essex they are tightening up too. I cannot go to the local tip, abot 2 miles, as it is under a different council. I have to go 8 miles the other way.
Also, I cannot go in my T5 kombi van as it has panelled rear sides (but rear seats and side windows) as it is classed as commercial. If it had glass all the way down it would be ok. I tried to point out that it is a private vehicle and the back is full of dog cages so cannot be commercial, but no go. I was told I would have to go about 20 miles to another council tip where there is no restrictions!

I've got an ongoing complaint with my local council.
My mum, exmrsegg+miniegg are all variously classed as disabled.
Mum and exmrsegg need mobility walking frames, grand daughter needs a a pushchair so we need a big vehicle when we go on day trips
So I bought a shogun
But...
I can't use it to go to the local tip without a permit.
So I'm claiming disability discrimination as it's unfair to require me to either buy a second vehicle, or only allow 12 visits a year.
