"3 teeth in the cut at all times" is the rule of thumb.Surely 2-3 tpi is for wood?
You need a finer blade for cutting steel.
I have one of the bigger Axminster bandsaws - also sold by Machine Mart and many others. It is brilliant. Very quiet running. Bought mine used for £300 - looks a bit tatty but does the job well. It has powered coolant but often I just use a squirty bottle instead using soluble cutting oil mixed with water.

I use this stuff have for years , 5-10% in water drains from the saw into a parts washer tank and pumped up to the blade guides works a treatCan someone point in the right direction for a suitable coolant pls.. for general angle iron and steel box sections etc normally i make do with WD40 when drilling etc … Thanks
I've had the Aldi Workzone variant for a fair while, it is good but quite noisy if that is an issue, got a Femi with a bigger capacity, better vice and upright table which is loads better.Gaztube shows an example of a Parkside one looks OK
Although these cheap bandsaws do not appear quiet compared to their slightly larger counterparts.
Simple water with soluable oil. Or whatever is close. What coolant do you use?
Exactly like my Berard. The only thing I did was clean and change the gearbox oil.Thinking of something down these lines, decent ( with a good blade or two ) but not silly money..

I use something similar to that from Dewalt for cutting up billet ali, now and again, though it used to get used a lot on so e biggish chunksI was looking long and hard for a vertical bandsaw. I was actually pretty unimpressed by the models available in U.K. that could cut both wood and metal. I ended up with one that could cut multiple types of material from Axminster it was actually the only one I could find that could do this. Verdict is still out on this saw although I personally think it’s under powered and overpriced. I bought a metal cutting blade last week but haven’t tried it yet.
