Howdy folks,
My Son is going to beat me to it! He's been looking to buy a Mig welder and is now committed to buying a "Youngs 145" from a Dealer in Wales. The welder apparently has a range of 20-140 amps, is copper-wound, has a 60% duty cycle, takes up to 15kgs. wire, has a twin head regulator/flowmeter, has a built-in platform for a full size cylinder, and he says is extremely heavy. The Dealer said they were built by "Youngs of Twickenham" but are now made in Italy for Youngs. I,m a bit concerned that he might be buying rubbish as I've never heard of this make. Price is £395 + VAT. Does anyone know this make please and if so are they any good?
By the way, still struggling to find a (reachable) supplier of gas in West Wales. The only one so far who will deliver is £77.60 per year and £39.50 for refill. Bit steep for the amount of welding I would probably be doing!
Another one was much better at £28.50 for a 10ltr. cylinder plus £1.50 per. month. (Wouldn't let me have a bigger cylinder 'cos he doesn't want it tied up with someone who probably won't be changing it very often!). Trouble is, he's about 90 miles away and doesn't deliver. Oh well! Keep searching!
Thanks,
Tony.
