Hey Guys,
Just introducing myself. My name's Stephen and I live in Carrickfergus, just North-East of Belfast in Northern Ireland.
I have always had a flare for Art & Design and decided to head into the Construction field when leaving school. I first tried Joinery but due to the High level of Self-Employed, 1-man-teams out there, i was told insurance was a problem. With the Joinery path shut, I went on to become a Roofer. I spent around a year roofing before having a serious fall due to poorly built scaffolding. I 'Snapped' my left arm in half and shattered my elbow, resulting in a six inch plate and 4 screws. After that i went on to do a computer course before finally trying out the path of Fabrication and Welding.
I have spent the last 3-4 years training to be a Fabricator/Welder through a training organisation and was Employed by Ryobi Auminium Castings for the duration of my apprenticeship. I have recently passed my NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering and have also purchased my first MIG welder.
I have finally found something I have a natural flare for and I'm now looking to take on the world with my designs and ideas.
One day I intend to open up my own business, and I believe with this highly informative and well layed-out forum, that one day a can achieve my goal.
I have a small album of work i carried out during my employment at Ryobi here: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/album.php?albumid=1262
Au Revoir!
