Brace yourself for a stern lecture from your doc and/or hygienist as to your tardiness, as well as a long cleaning session. Years ago, I used to be rather lax about taking care of my choppers, which is why I've had at least six crowns, an implant, and a couple of veneers, but now I go every three months for a cleaning, including a regular checkup by the dentist and x-rays during one or two of those visits. They don't let me forget about my appointments, as they send me text and email reminders with irritating (but effective) regularity. Fortunately, my Medicare coverage includes all routine preventive services as well as an annual allowance for other dental work.... your dentist asks you to fill out a new patient medical form
I've always been rubbish at attending the dentist. Not sure why but it's been about 6 years again. Sitting here now waiting nervously (again not sure why!)

Probably 3 years since I last went to the dentist. I clean and floss regularly and have no pain. My gums seem to be receding on one side of my mouth, so I can see my skull showing, but it doesn’t hurt. Can’t imagine there is anything a dentist can do about it either.I had a gum problem just before the pandemic, managed to get in to a local dentist by a stroke of luck, as she is setting me up on the system she asked me when I'd last had a checkup.
Apparently "1989" was the wrong answer....
My ears are still ringing from the talking to.
Funny thing is when they actually got around to looking, the teeth themselves are all perfect. Gum was knackered but not a single filling or any signs of tooth decay.
Friends that go regularly seem like they are always having fillings and crowns. Makes you wonder.
