Very nice work. What paint did you use and from which supplier? I would love to read a fuller account of the process if you have time to do a quick write up.
Rubbed the door down with a green scourer then all over 1000 grit wet n dry. Light dust over with a rattle can primer.
Then light dusting of base coat and when that is dry ( 10 mins in this heat) give it a full blow over to cover. When that's dry give it a few dust coats with gun at a further distance away to even the coverage. Then in about another 20 mins start with clear coat . This is 2 k. Applied a dust coat to start with so not to wet the base. I applied a couple more dust coats every 5 to 10 mins until I got a dry rough finish then blasted it on to cover to a high gloss.
I don't have a clean spray booth so odd bits of dust appeared and a run but over the years I have learnt to just leave to fully harden.
The following week (today) I flatted it all with plenty of water and the same sheet of wet n dry. I rubbed the runs out and did the whole door until dull. Then I used some farclea g10 and g3 on a compound head in my sander to bring back the shine.
Then a quick buff with some pledge furniture polish.
These methods may not be how the pros do it but it works for me.
Thanks. So 1k base coat, with a 2k clear coat. I don't know which brand or supplier you used but it's a very good colour match in the photos and certainly came out very well.
To the best of knowledge metallic base is always single pack with no activator as it gets sealed by the top coat.
The brand of paint is whatever my local paint shop sells mixed to match.
I think his paints are Mipa
