My dad's arthritis and claw hand has got to the stage he cannot use his tools anymore. So sad day today, I collected his 1956 Matchless that is part restored together with workbench and did a compressor swap for my wee 50 litre.
The bike was found as a pile of parts in an Orkney loft according to the guy who sold it as part refurbished on ebay. Unfortunately the seller was not the most honest - many of the parts that came with the bike were not correct: opposite rotation mag of a stationary engine, one fork tube covered in rust assembled with new seals, oil pump misassembled and damaged, clutch that was of another bike and did not fit. Wrong carb, seat of a later model that would not fit etc.
It started of as:
Paintwork done and may dad has picked up most of the incorrect/missing parts:
As you can see the garage/workshop is a bit cluttered:
I sold my Trident and trophy this week, so created some space and have moved the wings/bonnet/interior and glass from my Saab 96 project into my dad's shed/workshop, so next job is moving my Saab bodyshell into my 20 x 10' shed, finish my Saab engine rebuild and my Matchless 500 engine build (just waiting for the resleeved barrel coming back from Cox and Turner).
Will be working on this along with these projects.......if I can fit in!
