Hi all.
Found this forum while trying to decide on a new mig set, and very glad I did.
Brief history - Apprenticed with Petters (of engine fame) and have been in Engineering ever since - about 30 years. I,m not a pro welder, in fact these days I am office based, but have been using mig , mma and gas on and off for all of those 30 years. Most of my welding has been connected with competing at motocross (now retired), restoring old machines and manufacturing gates, candelabras, hanging baskets etc for family and friends.
I have recently been doing quite a lot of repair and manufacturing for some local farmers and my ageing Cebora 130 is simply not up to that sort of thing, hence the need for a new set.
All the good vibes on here have led me to the Portamig 181 (Weldequip, you have a pm), so if anyone has anything bad to say about them please shout before I spend all my money (and some of the wife's)
Thank you all for the good info so far, and I hope to stick around for a while to pick up some more tips.
Steve
