Yet another bead roller motor

I have been trying to use one of the cheap Chinese bead rollers for a while, without much luck as I am inflicted with only two arms, so I went digging for a motor and came across this on Aliexpress comes with the speed control and the gearbox limits it to 18rpm

My plan is couple it with a double foot switch to handle forward and reverse with just the move of a foot

Feedback/ criticism is welcome but try and be kind

What's the torque on that motor? Do you have a link? You can go lower than 18 rpm. The 12.5 may be more suited.

19.6Nm of torque, I think. The motor on my bead roller has 62Nm. Not sure how well it would cope with only a third of the torque. I'm terrible at guessing stuff like this but I think it may be on the low/disappointing side.

As far as I can tell it's basically the same motor as some of the commercial motor kits out there. For the rice I will take the chance and report my findings

They are sold out on the US website and they get good reviews. Yanks aren't shy to complain either. There's a hefty saving to be made going DIY. Good spot Vmax.

I’m interested to see how you get on with this as I’d like to motorise my own not-so-cheap Chinese bead roller. I had planned to use a winch motor after seeing other people on here use them, but I’m open to ideas.

You'd be much better off with a worm gear reduction motor, something like a radicon or we use 180v DC Leeson units with Sumitomo Cyclo gearboxes that will literally turn a 27 ton mill wheel at a snails pace.

Good info this but sounds costly. Ok for a workshop that can make it pay & can't afford to faff around with breakdowns. I'm wondering if you're aware of others applications where the same or similar kit might be used.... I'm thinking that there might be redundant machines somewhere in a completely different industry that one could trawl for bits?

Gotta agree there I'm also in the process of building a Jd's garage plasma. I'm not in the habit of trying to reinvent the wheel. I tend to stick to what I believe will work I will spend months thinking about and planning before I even break out the grinder
