I saw one go in an auction probably about 30 years ago, was described as a sailing ships mast lantern and can't remember the exact figure but think it was about £40, which for a small local auction back then was a big price.

Personally I would have thought it would be more suited as a cabin lantern unless there was glass protecting the flame from the wind.

It has now bean pressure washed and now de-rusting in citric acid.


I have twisted some cord up to make wicks as well.
