Hi,
crap username I know but I wanted to be honest with everyone just how naive I am (so far) and also to says cheers to the members who replied to my somewhat moronic sounding first post several times - its much appreciated.
I'm James mid thirties and really starting to get the bug to do some welding, Bored stiff of my office job and as I am very artistic I would love to do something that is creative/functional and maybe - (if its good enough) make a few quid on the side. (Collegue at work has close relative who recently moved to Austrailia who is earning well over $2000 (£1000ish) a week over there as its a trade they are crying out for)
I'm currently saving up for either a good second hand MIG or TIG machine - probably more likely to be a TIG and then I'm going to jump in the deep end - and get welding - I know there will be numerous fu** ups along the way but I want to start with a machine I'm going to stick with.
I want to build furniture frames either using chrome or flat Big widths of box steel - although I am new and naive in this area too -so anyone with ideas of what chrome tubing or flat box steel would be best and what prices I can expect to pay would really be a great help.
I have a close freind who is an expreienced engineer and is assisting me with designs and general engineering matters to do with building a successful frame.
Brilliant site - been keeping my eye on it for a few weeks now. cheers from definately the most eager = and probably ignorant (welding knowledge wise) member on the forum. (but learning fast)
