Yamaha RD400 seat pan

Had a few hours on this today.. you can practice, and practice... but at some point ( today) you have to bite the bullet, and get stuck in...
My £12.50 ebay Special, Pro-90 worked faultlessly, ( massive thanks to this forum, and Andy off this forum)
Welding rusty/ extremely thin metal is a whole different ball game to the practice pieces...

Yeah, tbh, i am absolutely chuffed to bits with the pro-90... i came close to binning it, and really close, to buying a brand new Clarke 135, but i came to my sense’s.
i have spent hours trawling this forum, and hours, trying to get it to work, and luckily, it all worked out in the end

Had a few hours on this today, managed to weld on the ‘spikes’ that secure the seat cover

Good job on the seat pan and fair play for remaking the original spikey bits. A mate of mine does a bit of vapour blasting and tig welding the sort of old boy who can do virtually anything and he struggles with them so i know they must be tricky! Very nice bike the rd400

I had half an hour in the garage yesterday, so coated the seatpan in red oxide primer

Just need to paint the side strips, and the rear cowl, and fit some decals
