If you get stuck, we have PMI (XRF) but not local. There was always a rough rule of thumb that 304 was slightly magnetic and 316 never was, but I'm forever finding non-magnetic 304 and slightly magnetic 316...
As I think you probably saw in the video this part is highly magnetic.
I tacked it together autogenously to get it back into the right geometry and then made a support for the tip. Tacked that with a bit of 316 and no cracking yet so fingers crossed.
Im picking up 309L tig rod tomorrow. I’m going to have to Tack some 304 strong backs across the joint before I can v Prep the other side. I did it nice and slow making sure not to cause any heat spots etc.
