I've often had to get these apart to replace bearings and just used a punch/screwdriver without a problem. Appreciate you'd rather not take the risk, and looks like it might be a Makita so it might be worth contacting them to see if you can buy the tool as you can usually buy every part you require from them.

Called into hardware shop for some other stuff and spied a small grinder key probably for a 4" grinder?
Less than £3 so got it to try
Put it in the vice and filed the teeth down to flats
Photo is a bit crap but you get the idea
Good shout on the thread direction seadog little fecker was left handed
Waiting for the gubbins to turn up now to put it back together.
