Would you check I'm buying the right Stonechip

Last minute decision to apply stoneship before I drop the body back on my jeep. Is this the right stuff, I'm looking for high quality rubberised over paintable stuff: https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/b40071579/

This stuff is getting increasingly difficult to get. Most places are out of stock or have very low stock.

are you asking if its overpaintable ? yes it is

could also look at upol gravitex or raptor..both should be easy to find

I have Raptor, or at least Mipa's version of it, I've used it to do the truck bed and door sills where people put their foot as they get in and wear the paint out. It sets rock hard so my theory is it won't absorb anything hard being flung off the tyres.

1k stonchips wont absorb alot either , just chips off if hit enough

I've never found a 2K rubberised stonechip so I assumed that even OEM is 1K. The stuff is supposedly non hard so I'd think it works?

I've put on several layers of epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat. I was going to leave it at that due to the problems of trying to spray stone-ship upside down, but since I have a rotisserie now I decided I can do the stone chip after all.

I have, on occasion, brushed on stonechip in the past, kinda speckle/splodge? it to give the factory look
Can't remember names properly rubberised stuff but be surprised if 3m don't list

Would you like to say more about the "last minute" decision to use stone chip? I don't use the stuff, but I may be in the minority. I worry that it tends to hide what's going on underneath it - I'm referring here not to when it's applied to a brand new chassis in the factory, but when it's used in a restoration on a surface where there may already have been some rust, and sooner or later, that might re-appear? If you've only got paint on, that will quickly be visible but if there's stonechip there, can that conceal it for some time? A comparison could be made with powder coat; I bet we've all seen powder coat that looked ok, then peeled off in large pieces to reveal loads of rust underneath it.

Basically my thinking was exactly the same as yours - stonechip hides what's happening underneath, when I combined that with the problem of spraying it upside down I decided to give it a miss on past projects. The rotisserie changes everything though
