Are the skirtings off the wall???
Are you sure they are Nails, and not a special type of screw in worms for breeze/thermalite blocks, under dot and dab and dry linning -we used them a lot, once fixed forget about taking them out. a straight pull out will bring a lot of the block away, if nails they probably rusted in and have an even better hold, thats why rusty nails get a better grip.

4 inch grinder, all done in 10 minutes then get on with putting the new on.

If the boards are off then twisting them will shear them off at the point that they held in the wall

if the boards are off pull the nails through the board from the back, they`l either pull through or snap. bashing them back through the face risks wood splintering and more damage to repair.

The boards are off but the nails are protruding from the plasterboard the skirting was fixed to...that is the problem.....

for all the time and trouble, if its safe, cut them off as flush as possible, They will have a canny hold in the block work under the plaster boards, more bother than its worth trying to pull them out. Given they pulled through the skirting indicates how good a hold they have in the blocks. Going beserk with a mash hammer to push them further in could create even more damage and even loosen the blocks and cause damage on the other side of the block.

Spec has changed now,your not allowed to screw or nail skirting boards to ground floor walls,has to be stuck,fine on a nice flat wall,unless the plasterer had an off day

I though that was the idea of skirting boards------ to hide the mess the plasterers make at the bottom!

Cut a slit in a piece of plate and slip it over the nail. Then use the plate to lever against.........spread the load

Rare times I've tried plastering, I always end up wet sponging it to try and get the finish looking something like. Plastering definitely ain't my thing.

all my skirting boards are drilled countersunk -screwed and filled. not stuck on with gripslike sh,.,.,.t and pinned. -there pine and not mfd all primed and undercoated before been fitted so they dont warp
