Would this actually fail an MOT?

Ive just bought another discovery with abit of crash damage in the back but otherwise solid, im not sure what im actually planning on doing with this yet, itll probably just be a spare engine ect but out of curiosity, would the rear chassis leg (about 1ft) being bent actually fail an MOT?

You could always replace the bent bit. I believe cross members are available for some of the Discos.

I dont think you can get disco 1 chassis parts,
Any idea if it would fail as is though?
Body mounts are ok and the fuel tank is dented but not leaking.

I was thinking of chopping out the middle section, bending the chassis leg back down if i can and welding a 'heavy duty' rear bumper right to the chassis

I am not familiar with that chassis so only going off what I can see in the photo, could you not cut it out at each end and simply weld a length of box section in it's place?

I would say its a very grey area that one! Some people could look at it been a structural issue i.e. Part of the Chassis. Realistically would it have any effect on the vehicle if it had another rear end accident?

Its all still intact, even the body mounts, and its nowhere near any suspension/brake parts so i wouldnt have thought it matters, well other than sharp edges.

The middle box section would need chopping out and then the chassis leg bent back down inline with the non damaged one, but then id think it would be best to weld a large peice of box section as a bumper, that way i wouldnt have to bother with getting the stock one to fit. (Im never towing with this btw)

The original plan was to chop out the chassis from my other one but making people walk between the cars to get to the house isnt ideal so that has to go to the scrappy this weekend
