Hi, My experience with welding has been with my last job as an automotive engineer (EMS & Emissions etc). I did alot of Mig welding, as well as plasma cutting among other things. However I'm not all that familiar with the technicalities of the kit mainly because I didn't buy it and also because I learnt off some very experienced chaps who showed me how to set it up for welding.
Having lost my job in the auto industry (as did many others!) I am now a tree surgery surveyor working with the electricity board. Bit of a change but hey, its a job.
Most of my welding has been either for work bits or on my Jeep that I do alot of offroading in. From bumpers to side protection to chassis protection, its mostly 2-3mm steel, though occasionally heavier gauge.
I'm looking to get myself a mig welder but finances are a bit tight so I guess it'll be something like the Clarke 135TE, unless I get lucky!
Glad I found this website as its already helped in some of my choices.
Looking forward to a raft of daft questions being intelligently answered!!
Toby
