Wot you getting for Christmas? Any suggestions?

I'd like some time off and actually get my lathe finished. One crisis after another sapped any free time I've had. Bought a stihl saw. Suppose I could call that an Xmas pressie even though its for a job.

I've ordered one of these, does it count as a Christmas present to myself? I reckon so. Hopefully I will get a phone call any day telling me it's ready for delivery. Mine will be minus the power feed and DRO, but they will be future add ons when funds are replenished. I guess I'll be nursing a bad back for Christmas as well seeing as it's going to have to be carried piece by piece down to the shed, with no access for a pallet truck. Down some steps as well.

Well I saved all my holiday days this year so I could have a month off all at once, I've been working on our holiday let for the last 30 days solid until at least 6pm every night and I'm looking forward to going back to work for a rest. Flippin' mental I tell you...

I have some Roebuck precision screwdrivers and a Best of Elbow CD so far. I did suggest postponing Christmas for a day so we could have Christmas dinner at Morrisons (£8 each) but I was scowled at .

The other presents I want I suppose I'll have to buy myself and smuggle them into the garage

I will be very careful, thank you for the warnings. My dad, uncle and brother in law are all on hand to help, it'll be stripped down into component parts, head, knee and possibly the base from the column. That last one depends on the paint finish, I don't want to damage the paint if it goes over the join.

I'll also be measuring up for a riser block as you have on your Chester. I doubt I'll need it to start with, but it'll be useful to have the measurements ready.
