It was £2.05 per kg for wiring loom a couple of weeks ago.
Bare, clean wire is over £7 per kg.
I've got a few drums of new welding cable that are now worth more in scrap than what I have been selling them for as new welding cable!
Stuff it all in a bag and take it down there. Non-ferrous prices are sky high right now so you're not likely to get a better price by waiting.
What else you gonna do with it?
I'm sure it will be better than mild steel price but does it make sense to have taken the time to remove is what remains to be seen.
Burning the insulation off isn't really an option either. I live in the middle of a town so don't want the smoke and hassle of that.
I'm using bolt cutters and ripping it out in sections. The fusebox will be tricker but I'll have a go at that later and just hack the largest section outIt will be worth more out of the shell so it depends how long it took you to remove it!
I'd find a chunky section by the fuse board, tie a bit of rope around it with a slip knot then drop it over the towbar of my truck.
Few good jerks and the majority of it comes out. As a bonus most of the connectors get ripped off as well...
Not much point burning it as charred cable is worth less so works out about the same price as leaving the insulation on.
hardly worth doing for the amountis car stuff stranded so worth less that single core if striped ?
"over here".....if you bring in wire( to the scrap yards) with burn residue you get a visit from the police.Burning the insulation off isn't really an option either. I live in the middle of a town so don't want the smoke and hassle of that.
