Hi
I need to buy a MIG welder to do some serious welding on my rotten Lancia Beta Spider. I'm considering a Clarke for 250 quid ish, but I'm a novice welder, so I'm wondering if I would be better off spending 500 on something with a lower minimum current. What is the opinion on here? I can probably afford a Clarke and gas, but I'd have to wait until after Christmas to buy something more serious. Is it worth the wait? Would a better machine make it significantly quicker to get to the point where I can start welding the car?
There's a lot of welding to do on the Lancia, and assuming I get on with it, I wouldn't mind taking on another project when this one is over.
Cheers
Duncan
