Home now and reviewing this old thread on my desktop and still my sides split. There must be some more. I bought a pair of cordless performance power drills in 2003. The chucks would not grip very well but the runout on the smaller drill was special, about 1.5mm.

Grease nipple unblocker. A piston in a cylinder forces grease or oil out at high pressure when you hit the end with a hammer. Simple and effective.
Well, it might be if the tool quality wasn't so poor that it can't form a seal between the piston and cylinder, so the lubricant simply comes out in the wrong place rather than through the grease fitting.
Utter garbage.

Haven't you seen the roll cages on sale on eblag? Might have to buy my own!tube bender kit from langy-cos cobbler is going to come up with some excuse why he cannot drop it off, so I will never get to use it, and he won't be able to say how good it is because I'll be watching

Rolson, makes Silverline look like Snap-On. Seems to be taking over the world though.
The worst tool i ever bought, A silverline lazy tongs pop riveter, it was supposed to pull up to 1/4" rivets. It pulled one 1/8" rivet & broke. Enraged i bent it across my knee & threw it straight in the bin. 2nd worst was a wickes jig saw that lasted 5 minutes before burning out.

I do remember buying a set of twist drills from a French supermarket. I cannot describe how bad they were, but so soft, they could have been made from aluminium. The shafts went banana shape and the cutting bit just melted into a blob. Never ever would have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

Some of the comments in this thread had me chuckling like a good un
I've done the cheap angle grinder thing several times - cheap ones don't last and vibrate like heck - good ones last for years - My Makita is 10 years plus and still smooth and pleasant to use (and on it's original brushes too)
I did the SIP thing (TBH it's not that bad once modded) but it's crap out of the box
However the worst tools I have ever bought are cheap sockets - yes they work and do eventually break and you justify the breakage by the price but the penance for cheap sockets is scabbed knuckles and bruises - and it's always when you are in the middle of a job.
I was under a car changing a propshaft and had a cheap socket on the end of a 3 ft breaker bar - spanner and old fork tube holding the other end of the bolt
The socket shattered and I was in the firing line
Hit me smack above the eye - and one side of my vison was lost by the volume of claret flowing down that side of my head
I wriggled out from under the car and grabbed some blue roll and went inside for a plaster (I may have still had my boots on but it was an emergency
Clearly I underestimated the level of blood flow and I dripped blood all the way thro the house on cream carpet ( I couldn't see it)
I then found my better half who thought I'd been in a boxing match and was concerned for my welfare
This level of sympathy rapidly evaporated once she saw the state of the carpet - blood everywhere and greasy boot prints - that had to be replaced shortly after.
However this did have a positive flip side
I justified my next set of quality sockets cost v the price of the carpet that got trashed by the consequences of buying cheap ones and bugger me she agreed that it was a sensible purchase......

Must have been a few of them at one time, I used one in the Wood Green shopping centre or was it The Lewisham Centre it was a long while ago, I moved houses a lot in them days and all shopping centres look the same.
