Thats good, your in a minority then! Theres not that many people who can manage a single hour of non stop running which should be about 10km or better, as a sort of minimum level of fitness for a young'un. In my opinion.I'd say I'm in normal shape for a 24 year old. I am able to run for quite a few kilometers if i have to. Thanks for your answer.
Don't think I've had Covid in quite some time now, about a year since last time. But yeah, it's a posibilityHave you had COVID by any chance? That left wifey and I with a lingering cough that took months to go away.
Thats true. At home in Norway I live near the coast, country side, so the air is pretty clean. But now I study in Riga, capital of Latvia. The air isn't the best. Lots of debriss and dust from cars and city lifeFind a dark place, away from street lights and the like, and try shining a bright LED torch up into the night sky, and look closely at how much "stuff" is illuminated by the beam. There is a surprisingly large amount of particulate matter floating about, even the "clean" air out in the middle of nowhere, and we're breathing that all of the time.
Yes, I am also afraid it's mostly just in my head! That I'm going crazy after studying so many diseases and having hobbies that CAN cause chronic diseases. But like mentioned by others here, literally everything we do in our life can be hazardous if done incorrectly. You're right, and hopefully the professional doctor can reassure me not to worry about this.It could be what one of my lecturers called ‘learning-induced hypochondria’. As you study various diseases, you think you have some of them.
Remember your training on the art of diagnosis: you have resp signs, and a history of welding. Can you necessarily link the two, without any diagnostics? That’s called ‘post hoc ergo propter hoc’ reasoning, and is causing you worry because it’s currently your only source of information.
How would you manage a patient presenting to you like this? I bet you’d examine, book some tests, and reassure them, tell them not to worry unduly. Lungs are actually very good at what they do.
As a doctor in training you’re, err…, going to see a lot of sick people over the next 40 years! So probably best to start working on avoiding that malody-transference psyche…Yes, I am also afraid it's mostly just in my head! 24, Maximal, you've 60 years left in you yet.I'd say I'm in normal shape for a 24 year old. I am able to run for quite a few kilometers if i have to. Thanks for your answer.
Very true, and I have already seen what smoking for 40 years can do to a grown man. Lets just say I'll never ever light a cigarette again and thank god I've never been a smoker. I will also never work like I've done in the past, without propper PPE, because you only get so many chances regarding your own health. As a doctor in training you’re, err…, going to see a lot of sick people over the next 40 years! Thank you, needed to hear that! Generally speaking I'm a fairly active person, although I don't directly exercise, I do walk around and ride my bicycle year around.24, Maximal, you've 60 years left in you yet.
@Kram is right, also it's not a case of " if I have to", treat your body like your cars/projects, it's more to do with maintenance, the time you put in and methods.
Do it reasonably well, don't take you, your body for granted, just cos it's yours and barring health threats, you'll get through.
Oh yeah, maybe------wear a f*ing mask.![]()
Running, cycling, swimming, any cardiovascular exercise that speeds your heartbeat, brings you out in a sweat for a few minutes of the day.Thank you, needed to hear that! Even in remote parts of places like mid Wales, and the Outer Hebrides, there's a surprising quantity of particules floating about. Even though the air smells fresh and clean, there's still pollen, salt crystals, dust, meteor trail particles, Californian wildfire smoke.... Saharan sand travels many, many miles to get to those places.Thats true. At home in Norway I live near the coast, country side, so the air is pretty clean. But now I study in Riga, capital of Latvia.
